Stroller Car Seat Compatibility

When buying a car seat for the newest arrival of your family, one question to consider is whether the car seat you’re looking at is stroller-compatible. And if it works with strollers, which stroller(s) is it compatible with?

Travel systems are a good idea for many parents. They make moving baby from the car to the stroller and vice versa easy. They also make carrying baby into restaurants, zoo, grocery stores, and other places easier versus carrying them using the carrier part of an infant car seat.

A good travel system enables you to remove a baby from the backseat of a car into a stroller without waking them up. If you have an existing stroller, it makes sense to choose an infant car seat that’s compatible with that stroller. You may also opt to buy a manufacturer-matched stroller/infant car seat combo.

In this post, I give you a list of popular baby strollers and the infant car seats they work with. You’ll get a list of the most popular car seat brands and a list of baby strollers they click with.

Before we proceed, here’s a bunch of often-asked questions about stroller/car seat combinations.

Quick Stroller Infant Car Seat Compatibility FAQs

Can Any Car Seat Fit in Any Stroller?

No. Different car seats fit in different strollers and it’s important to know which combinations work and which don’t.  Many infant car seats these days are compatible with a long-and-growing list of major stroller brands. However, NO convertible car seat or booster car seat works with strollers.

Do All Graco Strollers Fit All Car Seats?

No. In fact, Graco strollers are ONLY compatible with Graco infant car seats.

Can a Graco Car Seat Attach to a Stroller?

Yes, many Graco infant car seats attach to a host of strollers through a car seat adapter. Scroll to the bottom of this meaty list and find the Graco car seat you’re interested in to learn which strollers you can pair it with.

Can I Use a Graco Car Seat With a Britax Stroller?

Yes, a Graco car seat can go on a Britax stroller provided you use the correct car seat adapter. The Graco Single Infant Car Seat Adapter enables to attach a Graco infant car seat to any compatible Britax single stroller.

Booster Seats and Convertible Car Seats AREN’T Stroller-Friendly

Before we dive into the actual list of car seats and the strollers they’re compatible with, let me state a little fact you need to know. ONLY infant car seats are stroller-compatible. Booster car seats and the uber-popular convertible car seats don’t pair up with strollers. To build a travel stroller, you need an infant car seat and a compatible baby stroller.

In case you’re interested to know the difference between an infant car seat and a convertible car seat, here’s a post I recently wrote about infant car seats versus convertible car seats.

Buy a Complete Travel System or Make Your Own?

Many stroller/car seat brands out there sell complete travel systems so that parents can pick out an option and stop worrying about car seat stroller compatibility. In most cases, buying a pre-assembled travel system is better than  building your own travel system.

You can easily find budget travel systems with a price point that’s way cheaper than the cost of a single stroller or car seat. There are many good $300 travel systems and many $300 strollers and some $300 car seats, but pairing such a stroller with such a car seat could increase the cost of the custom travel system by 100%!

Why do some parents choose to build their own travel systems even when going this route almost always costs more? It’s because opting to build allows the to couple the best stroller for the money with the best infant car seat, ending up with a superior travel system. Throw in some good accessories and you have a can’t-beat-this stroller/car seat combination.

Sometimes, you come across a stroll that really speaks to you, but you may find that it’s sold separately rather than as a part of a travel system. You may also find a car that you fall in with but sadly find that it’s sold individually. But with a compatible car seat adapter, you can bring these two items together into a really good travel system.

A Manufacturer-approved Car Seat Stroller Combos

If you’ve been reading around the web for some time, you have probably learned that there are tons of DIY travel system ideas out there. There’s always some DIYer offering their fans a list of car seat adapters that work across car seat brands. And that’s nice.

But it’s best to research further and learn whether that DIY travel system is a combination the manufacturer recommends. If you’re looking for a particular car seat/stroller combo, head over to the search box in the top right corner of this post and search there.

List of 22 Popular Strollers Plus ALL Compatible Car Seats

For the most part, the car seat adapters need to complete the build are sold separately. But it’s not like car seat adapters are very expensive.

Below is a list of 22 strollers and the ALL the infant car seats they’re compatible with and 4 popular car seat brands and ALL the strollers they’re compatible with.

I’ve also dropped a link of the car seat adapter you need to use to attach car seat and stroller to make a travel system for your little one.

By the time you’re done reading through my long list of possible car seat/stroller combinations, you won’t need to ask anyone whether stroller XYZ is compatible with car seat ABC and vice versa.

1.City Tour  2 Baby Stroller is Compatible With:

It’s the only Baby Jogger car seat that’s compatible with the City Tour 2 stroller. To couple these two pieces of baby gear together, you need an adapter. And this is the adapter you need: Baby Jogger/Graco Car Seat Adapter.

Estimated cost: $230 (car seat) + 50 for the adapter=$280. The resultant combo costs under $300. And it’s a pretty good travel system.

Here’s is a list of 4 Graco SunGlide Click Connect infant car seats that the City Tour 2 is compatible with:

  • Graco SunGlide Click Connect 40
  • Graco SunGlide Click Connect 35
  • Graco SunGlide Click Connect 35 LX
  • Graco SunGlide Click Connect 30

Here’s the car seat adapter to connect any of these Graco infant car seats with the City Tour 2 Stroller: City GO/Graco Click Connect Car Seat Adapter. It’s the same adapter that adapts the City Tour 2 Stroller to the Baby Jogger City GO 2 Infant Car Seat above.

2. Babyzen YOYO + Stroller

The Babyzen YOYO+ stroller works well with the following infant car seats:

  • Cybex Aton
  • Cybex Aton 2
  • Cybex Aton Q
  • Cybex Aton M

Use this car seat adapter: Baby YOYO+ Car Seat Adapter.

The Babyzen YOYO+ Stroller is a lightweight stroller weighing in at just 12.8 pounds. Cybex Aton car seats are also lightweight, which means you’d make a pretty lightweight travel system. But this won’t be a cheap DIY stroller/car seat combo because the Babyzen YOYO+ stroller isn’t is a high-end option.

Another thought: If you have a tiny car, the Cybex Aton car seat is a pretty narrow option. Take the Cybex Aton M, for example. This car seats is 17.3″ wide, which makes it one of the most compact car seats out there. I really should have included it on this list of the best car seats for small cars and compact SUVs.

The Baby YoYo+ Stroller also works supremely well with these Maxi Cosi infant car seats:

  • Maxi-Cosi Cabriofix
  • Maxi Cosi Mico
  • Maxi Cosi Mico 30
  • Maxi Cosi Mico AP
  • Maxi Cosi Mico Max 30
  • Maxi Cosi Mico NXT
  • Maxi Cosi Pebble
  • Maxi Cosi Prezi

Use the the Baby YOYO+ Car Seat Adapter behind the text link above.

Which other infant car seats does the Babyzen YOYO+ click with? You guessed right; it’s Nuna PIPA infant car seats. And below is a list of ALL Nuna infant car seats this lightweight stroller is compatible with:

  • Nuna PIPA
  • Nuna PIPA Lite
  • Nuna PIPA Lite LX

Again, use the Babyzen YOYO+ car seat adapter when building your travel system.

3. Bugaboo Ant Baby Stroller

This is a premium-quality single stroller costing somewhere in the $350-ish range. It’s solidly built and super durable, and it’s a modular stroller. Being modular means you can strap in your little one rear-facing or world-facing. That is, this stroller comes with a reversible seat.  And parents love this ability!

The handles are height adjustable, too. And the under-seat basket is pretty large, holding up to 17 pounds of stuff. The Bugaboo is the most compact modular stroller from Bugaboo. Another great thing about the Ant is that it offers decent shock absorption. However, the wheels are pretty small and aren’t any good on any kind of rough terrain.

Being lightweight and compact makes it a travel-friendly stroller. It’s only 16″ wide, which means there’s no doorway that’ll proof too narrow for it during travel overseas.

And  the best part? You can use it from newborn all the way to 50 pounds. Even though the Bugaboo Ant costs a pretty penny, parents can’t stop loving it. But folding it and unfolding it isn’t a breeze.

The Bugaboo Ant is compatible with the following infant car seats:

  • ALL Maxi Cosi Infant Car Seats

Use this adapter: Bugaboo Car Seat Adapter for Nuna/Maxi Cosi/Clek/Cybex. Don’t worry; Pishposhbaby is a member of the Brixy Network, a trusted seller of a variety of baby products. They’re a trusted vendor on Amazon.

  • Cybex Aton series
  • Clek Liing infant car seat
  • Nuna Pipa
  • Nuna Pipa RX
  • Nuna Pipa Lite
  • Nuna Pipa Lite R
  • Nuna Pipa Lite LX

To click any of these infant car seats in place on the Bugaboo Ant Stroller, use the Bugamboo Car Seat Adapter for Nuna/Maxi Cosi/Cybex/Clek above. Note that you have to buy the adapter separately as sellers don’t typically include it as a part of the package.

4. Bugaboo Bee5 Complete Stroller

You’re looking at a $600 single stroller here. So if you don’t like buying expensive stuff, skip this one. Celebrities including Cate Middleton and Gwyneth Paltrow have wheeled babies around in the Bugaboo Bee5 Complete at some point.

But they definitely had the money. It’s also possible these cool moms (are they still cool?) may have obtained this pricey thing from the manufacturer so they could “influence” other moms to buy it.

Unlike its predecessors, the Bugaboo Bee5 offers more storage, vegan-leather handle grips, and better suspension. But even though it pushes better than earlier versions, the wheels are still pretty small (better than Bugaboo Ant’s). And no, it’s not a jogging stroller so don’t use it this way.

Lest I forget, the Bugaboo Bee5 is among a bunch of a strollers whose backrests sit all the way up so that curious kids can soak in the sights in front as you stroll around and bond.

The Bugaboo Bee5 Complete is compatible with the following infant car seats:

5.Bugaboo Donkey 3 Stroller

Now if the price point of the Bugabee Bee5 scared you away, don’t even look at the Donkey 3. Because it comes in at a really steep price point of over $1,200.

But is the Donkey worth it? Well, I don’t know. But here’s what it offers: the wheels are all-terrain. And since the thing offers amazing suspension, these wheels glide over all kinds of surfaces like there’s no tomorrow.

The stroller even works well when pushed through snow conditions. Here’s a list of the best snow strollers in case you’re interested. The best part? The wheels don’t ever go flat. This may not sound like a really big deal, but taking care of punctured stroller tires can be quite the hassle.

Oh, and the undercarriage is really big and sturdy, so is the sun canopy. But it gets even better: you get a bassinet/pram for carrying newborns.

It’s extremely versatile too. It’s at once a single/mono stroller, a double stroller, and a twins stroller. The seat is reversible, and it steers like, well, a dream. You can even attach two bassinets so that you can carry your newborn twins without worries. Here’s a list of other double strollers in case you’re interested.

At 23.62″, it’s wide, but not too wide that the folks at Disneyland will turn you away at the gate. Disney rules restrict stroller width to no more than 31.5″.

But which infant car seats is the sinfully expensive Bugaboo Donkey 3 compatible with? Below is the list:

6. Bugaboo Lynx Stroller

The Bugaboo Lynx is expensive, but not as expensive as the Donkey 3. It costs somewhere in the neighborhood of $780. The wheels don’t get punctures, and there’s enough suspension to make steering a one-hand affair.

At 20.7lbs, it’s not the lightest stroller, but it’s not the heaviest either. If you add in a 9-12-pound infant car seat, you get a travel system that weighs between 29.7lbs and 32.7lbs. That’s not like too heavy as far as travel systems go.

Oh, and you can fold this thing without removing either the bassinet or infant car seat. And it self-stands. But no, the bassinet and car seat aren’t a part of the package.

It’s as wide as the Bugaboo Donkey 3 at 23.6″, making a good Disneyland stroller.

Below are all the infant car seats that the Bugaboo Lynx Stroller is compatible with:

7.Bugaboo Fox2 Stroller

This is another really expensive stroller. It lives in the same neighborhood as the Bugaboo Donkey 3 (over $1,200). You get a reversible toddler seat and a premium-quality bassinet for a hauling your newborn around.

The canopy is large and the peekaboo window lets you watch over your little one without having to stop and walk over But which infant car seats does the Bugaboo Fox2 stroller work well with?

8. Chicco Strollers (No Adapter Needed…Because Built-in Adapter)

Chicco Strollers is America’s very own brand the same way Peg Perego is Italy’s. These are safe strollers that comply with all the requisite stroller safety regulations and standards in the United States. They look nice, work well, are feature-rich, and are durable.

But as you might already imagine, Chicco strollers aren’t like the cheapest options out there. With that being said, some strollers from this US stroller brand are quite affordable without sacrifice the safety and reliability that parents everywhere have known this company for over the years.

Here’s a unique thing about Chicco strollers: they’re ONLY compatible with Chicco Infant Car Seats. It’s all about keeping you within the Chicco ecosystem so to speak. The nice thing is that even though they don’t include a car seat adapter, it’s actually because no adapter is needed. That is, Chicco strollers come infant car seat-ready. Simply carry the car seat from the backseat of your car and snap it into place.

9. Graco Baby Strollers

Like Chicco, Graco strollers are super popular. And this brand doesn’t want parents to hook its strollers with infant car seats outside of Graco’s ecosystem.

Graco strollers are ONLY compatible with Graco infant car seats. Again, you don’t need an adapter of any kind to connect the car seat to the stroller. Simply click a Graco infant car seat and it fits like a glove.

9. Maxi Cosi Lila and Maxi Cosi Tayla Strollers

If you purchase a a pre- November 1 2020 Maxi Cosi Lila stroller, make sure to contact the company so they can ship over new infant car seat adapter receivers. These two strollers are fully compatible with the following car seats:

10. Nuna Strollers

Nuna strollers are ONLY compatible with Nuna infant car seats. If you go with the Nuna MIXX, Nuna PEPP, Nuna Demi Grow, you stand to get a FREE car seat apter. And if you don’t to mess around with adapters, get the Nuna TAVO since it doesn’t require any adapter. Simply plug the car seat in and that’s is it.

11. Thule Strollers

Thule Glide 2, Thule Urban Glide 2 Single, and Thule Urban Glide 2 Double strollers: Which car seats fit their frame?

12. Joovy Twin Roo + Stroller Frame

This is essentially a stroller frame with wheels and a storage basket. There’s no stroller seat or even a canopy. Get the right adapter and snap the infant car seat into place and voila! you have a travel system. It’s a cheap deal that costs parents under $200 at time of writing. It fits the following infant car seats:

13. Caboose S Stroller

This $500 option is a well-built all-terrain stroller many parents love. You can click in the infant car seat rear-facing or forward-facing, and you can add a bassinet to give your newborn the coziest of rides. The younger kid can ride in the bassinet or sit in the toddler seat forward-facing while the older one can either use the rear bench seat or use the stand-on platform below this seat.

It’s compatible with the following infant car seats:

14. Joovy Caboose Ultralight Graphite (Adapter Included)

This is a 23.5-pound stroller, which means with a lightweight infant car seat, you might end up with a relatively lightweight travel system. Something that weighs 30lbs-ish. Unlike Caboose S, this one costs under $300, which makes it more accessible without diluting overall quality and function too much.

Note that the adapter comes with this Caboose stroller BTW.

You can carry a younger child front-facing while the other sits or stands on the rear bench-cum-standing platform. Access to the somewhat small basket isn’t easy when the rear child is in the bench seat though.

BOB Gear strollers are some of the best-known jogging strollers out there. And when it comes to pushing via snow, there’s no worthier stroller. Steering singles and doubles feels like the easiest and most natural thing in the world. Plus they last an entire eternity. But they’re pricey, which surprises absolutely no one.

They’re compatible with the following infant car seats:

18. Baby Jogger City Select and City Select Lux

Like the City Mini 2 and City Mini GT2, the City Select and City Select Lux are all-terrain strollers parents have heaped tons of praised on. But they’re substantially pricier, and whether the massive price different is justifed is a discussion for another day. They’re easy to maneuver when strolling across the city on errands or whatever, and the wheels never get deflated.

They’re compatible with the following infant car seats:

19. Baby Jogger City Mini 2 & Citi Mini GT2 Strollers

The City Mini 2 and City Mini GT2 are sought-after all-terrain options in the vast stroller market. The City Mini 2 is cheaper and somewhat less sturdy compared to the Mini GT2. The GT2 comes in a wholly updated look and offers certain improvements that justify for its significantly heftier price tag. Both have foam-filled, forever-pumped tires, but the tires on the pricier GT2 perform whether when it comes to going over curbs and rough terrain in general.

Below is a list of every infant car seat the City Mini 2 and City Mini GT2 are compatible with:

20. Mockingbird Strollers

Mockingbird aren’t like super popular, but many parents out there vouch for them as far as reliability and durability. These strollers work quite well with the following infant car seats:

21. Thule Sleek City Stroller

Its build is solid, the frame lightweight aluminum, the all-terrain wheels large and foam-filled, and the fabric luxurious. Maneuvering through tight spaces and riding over curbs is easy, and the underneath basket spacious enough.

But you’ll have to buy the bassinet if you have a newborn (it’s pricey) and a sibling car seat if you want to carry a second child. And buying all this stuff can easily make it the most expensive Thule stroller. And no, there’s no adapter at this price point.

Infant car seats the Thule Sleek City Stroller works with:

22. Joovy Qool Stroller

This is a really sturdy all-terrain Joovy stroller some might mistake for a badass jogging stroller, but it’s not a jogger. The wheels never go flat, which is really nice. The basket is big, and with the right attachments, you can carry up to 3 kids with a combined weight of 135 pounds. You’re looking at the quintessential workhorse here.

Its handle telescopes rather than rotates, which makes sure tall and short users don’t keep hitting the rear wheel axle.
